Melbourne: Scientists have revealed 10 Red-Flag cancer warning symptoms, which if present in a person, should get immediately checked out by a doctor.
According to a study of more than 1,700 people done by Cancer Research UK, a cancer research & awareness charity in the United Kingdom, the key to beating cancer was knowing these warning signs and “when in doubt, get it checked ASAP,” reports News.com.au., Australia’s leading news website.
The 10 “Red Flag” warning symptoms are as follows:
- Persistent cough or hoarseness
- Unexplained lump
- Persistent change in bowel habits
- Persistent change in bladder habits
- Unexplained weight loss
- Persistent unexplained pain
- Unexplained bleeding
- A sore that does not heal
- Persistent difficulty swallowing
- Change in the appearance of a mole
The study also found that people were hesitant to consult a doctor as they perceived their symptoms to be insignificant or were worried that they would waste the doctor’s time.
Nothing could be farther than the truth. Consult a doctor immediately if you or any of your family member(s) shows any of the 10 “Red Flag” warning signs. It could mean the difference between life and death!
